The following pictures show the types of backflow units used in our installations and the general procedure for fall maintenance prior to winterization, (blow out), of your system.
IMPORTANT!  MAKE SURE TO SHUT OFF THE WATER SUPPLY TO THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM PRIOR TO PREPARING BACK FLOW FOR WINTERIZATION.

After shutting off water to the system, make sure to open all valve handles and bleed screws and remove plug or open spigot in order to drain water from all parts of unit After shutting off water to the system, open the "hose bib" to drain water from the unit. After shutting off water to the system, remove plug (shown as white cap in photo) to drain water from the unit. After shutting off water to the system, remove plug (bottom right of photo) to drain water from the unit. After shutting off water to the system, open the "hose bib" to drain water from the unit.
These are the current back flow prevention systems that we are currently aware of throughout our customer base.  If your system has a different unit, or you have questions regarding your system, please feel free to contact us. The picture on the right is what is called a "hose bib" in the information above. many systems have this instead of a plug.
